Book Fair

Week 2 & 3 of term 4 Pukekohe Intermediate is having the book fair come into our school. This is being held by the PTA from Pukekohe Intermediate School. Classes have booked times to come in with their class to have a look and see what they might want. The book fair is not just selling books they are selling pencils, rubbers, & posters big & small. But children and adults have to get in quick because things are getting sold out. Its also a good idea for Birthday or Christmas presents.

Seminars

This term Pukekohe Intermediate are presenting seminars, the year 8 students are doing their seminars on what career they are wanting to have in the future. My seminar/career is a Commercial Laywer. The aim for me is to make a short video of what its like being a Commercial Lawyer, and a slide show with all the information about a Commercial Lawyer. The aim is to get into level 4 for our marking of our presentation. To get marked in this category I must use a good variety of resources and a good presentation. These seminars will take place in 5 weeks time.

CANTEEN - Bike Bash

On the 15th of October a group of kids from Pukekohe Intermediate went with Jack to support the Bike Bash for Canteen in Pukekohe, at the Market Square. They started of with some skipping with Counties Manukau Sports and they taught them a lot of new games. Then they saw Ronald Mc Donald supporting the bike bash to, as he was biking hard. They stopped to ask if they could take a photo with him. Then he gave out some hats with his signature on it. There were lots of games and face painting. Surinder then told them that they could all take over on the National Party bike, so they all had a turn on it for five minutes each. There was an Auction on some clothes that Athlete from the Delhi Commonwealth Games had. Some of the clothes sold for at least 100 dollars. It went to a worthy cause, Canteen. After that Pukekohe High School came to perform cheerleading for them, and then it was home time, but there were still people biking for another seven hours! It was an amazing day for these kids. They all had a fantastic day, supporting the CANTEEN - Bike Bash !

Class Budget

This Term we have made a class room budget. We have class room jobs that we have to do to get money like cleaning up rubbish and opening the windows. We also have taxes like having the heat pumps on and having the lights on. The money was made by Blair Morrow and Jacob Howard. We all get a set amount of money at the start of the week. At the top is a photo of some of the money I have, that is what the money looks like.

Senselang

This is my touch typing result, you get one minute to type as much as you can and it shows you what to write. My success percentage is 92% and my number of mistakes is 10, my number of typed characters 127, and my rate (words per minute) is 38. Everyone in the class has done this today and we are going to do this more often. I am going to practice more so I can get a better score.

Gardening

Our school has gardening groups to make the school more neat, tidy and eco friendly. recently, Mrs Kraackman came to help all of the gardening groups with advice for what plants and flowers to plant in the gardens. She's a really good gardener, so we appreciated her help alot. Mark and I took many photo's to make into a movie, the plants and tree's look really amazing in them all.

Financial Literacy

This term we will be learning how to save money and how to use money wisely. We will establish a class currency and will learn how to budget our finances. We have spent a number of lessons so far learning about our New Zealand currency, the special features on our dollar notes and the Reserve Bank.We have tagged a variety of websites on our Delicious Bookmarking accounts under the tag financial. We will work through the tutorials on Banking For Our Future and learn a variety of ways to make the right financial choices. The class went onto a website called career services and found out information about what career they wanted to be and wrote the information and job down on a piece of scrap paper and put it in a little box and then Mrs Pearson mixed them up and we closed our eyes and picked one out and that is now our career in the classroom. It is a very good way to learn about finances.
