VSA Friendship Bracelets

VSA Friendship Bracelets are for sale at Pukekohe Intermediate school from the 3rd of August until the 15th of August. On Tuesday the 3rd of August there was a mufti for $3.00 but you also got a Friendship bracelets which was what the $3.00 was for. All the money from the Friendship bracelets goes towards helping children in countries over seas that are sick and in need of help. Three students from Pukekohe Intermediate school will be outside the library selling Friendship bracelets fro $3.00 every lunch time which is from 12.30 to 1.15.

Japanese Fundraiser Netball Tournament

Last Monday, girls and and boys from different clubs and schools, attended a Japan Fundraiser Netball Tournament held at the Pukekohe Netball Centre. Different teams were entered in different grades, and there were prizes for 1st and 2nd placers. One student from our class (Georgia) was entered in the tournament for the Bombay Netball Club. In her grade they came 1st and each got a ANZ bag. A big thanks to Mrs Pearson and Mr Sweeney for organizing this event, it was awesome night and they all enjoyed it.

Descriptive Writing

The Bedroom

I see the soft Queen size bed up next to the window. I see clothes everywhere all scrunched up. I touch the softness of the bed. I touch the walls with heaps of posters everywhere. I can smell fresh air, with a tint of perfume (cool charm purple). I can hear the birds chirping, and the cars driving past. The TV is on but on a.v.1. I also hear the CD player playing a CD. I can taste fresh air. I open the wardrobe and a whole bunch of towels fall out on top of me. Books are stacked with magazines on two shelves.

The Library

The pushed out books on the shelf, with the crooked posters up on the wall. A quiet room of children with only the noise of the fish tank coming from the desk. Clothes hanging on the wall nice and ironed. A TV hanging from the wall as if its about to fall off. You can hear people moving around and flicking over their pages. Children looking and staring at bits of the room. The wonderful colorful drawings on the wall.

Franklin Science Fair

Our class sent through eight of our science projects to the Franklin Science Fair competition. The standard of entries was extremely high. We received an email from Mr DeKock advising us that three boards from our classroom had been named as a finalist.
The finalists were: Shaylee Syme for her photo-journalism board, Erica Petty for her science investigation and Sian DeArth for her science investigation.
The prize giving ceremony was held on Thursday 17th at 7:00pm in the Pukekohe Town Hall. A number of Pukekohe Intermediate School students gained a placing. All three students from our room were placed in their respective sections.
Shaylee Syme gained second place in the year 7 photo-journalism section- Wai H2O Water
Ercia Petty gained first place in the year 7 science investigation section- Can Hip Hop Help Harry Potter at Hogwartz and Sian DeArth gained first place in the year 8 science investigation section - Baking Soda, Vinegar & Heat.

House Sports

At the end of term two Pukekohe Intermediate had a full house sports day. Only two teams could be in the finals to compete with the best teams in turbo touch and netball. To make it to the finals you had to compete with every team in the sport you played. The winners for turbo touch were Ngata C and the winners for netball were Hillary D. Everyone dressed up in their house colours and some people even put paint on themselves.

PINTV

In term 2 Pukekohe Intermediate School started up a TV show in the mornings for the school. We needed a logo for the TV show so we asked children in the school to come up with an idea of a logo for PINTV, and to draw it or make it on a A4 piece of paper. We went through the entries and picked a winner. The winner was Mark in room 23. Then we needed cast and crew so we sent out pieces of paper to the people that wanted to be in it and they had to fill out the form and hand it in by a certain time. Now every class in the school has a TV set in there class. Every morning at 9oclock each class turns in the TV and PINTV will come on.

Three-way student lead conference

In term 3, week 2 Maori Language Week we have Three-way student lead conferences. They start on Monday 26th July and go to Wednesday 28th July. On Monday 26th July we finished school early due to the conferences, we finished at 2:15 pm instead of 2:45 pm. The first conference started at 2:45 pm and the last conference was at 6:30 pm. Each conference goes for 15 minutes. On Tuesday the first conference started at 3:15 pm and the last conference was at 5:15 pm. On Wednesday the first conference started at 3:15 pm and the last conference was at 5:45 pm. The conferences are very good for the children to be able to tell their parents/guardians how they are going in school.
